Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side fired two times late to seize a surprise lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the last thirteen years.
