19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Cervara.
Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt since spring of 2023.
Victory also indicates Medvedev has won 21 championships at twenty-one different events.
"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.
His retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted commentators to question if his ability to compete at the top level was over.
But the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.
The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.
Both players swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional championship, took control to force a decider.
Moutet defended four early-game opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, the winner earned the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
